Don't forget your ID!

Make sure you bring your identity documents with you, even for a domestic flight. A passport or national identity card is checked by many airlines before they will allow you to board the flight. If you don't have the correct documentation with you, you may find that you cannot board, and it's very unlikely you will be reimbursed for the cost of the ticket.

Laptops

Laptops may be taken on board as hand baggage in many cases. Check with your airline before you leave, and ask about size restrictions so that you can check the measurements are within the size allowed. Even if laptops are permitted on your flight, if your laptop is too big, it won't be allowed in the cabin.

Manchester Airport Information and Parking Options

by David J Cook

Manchester airport is the premier airport in the North of England attracting customers from as far away as Scotland and the Midlands. Over a 100 airlines operate from Manchester flying to 200 destinations. Europe and internal flights account for the majority of the destinations but it is the long haul flights to the USA, Africa, and the Far East that sets the airport apart from its regional rivals.

The airport was forecast to handle over 30 million passengers by 2010 following the completion of the second runway in 2001, however, increased competition from other close by regional airports such Liverpool, Leeds, Birmingham, East Midlands, Newcastle and Doncaster Robin Hood has seen the airport fall well short of this forecast.

The airport operates from 3 terminals that are all connected to a rail and bus hub by covered moving walkways. Terminal 3 is home to internal flights to other UK airports and British Airways and 2 and 3 are segregated depending on airline.

In 2008, Manchester airport handled over 22 million customers, whilst the UK government still tries to increase numbers using public transport the majority of customers still prefer to use their car avoiding the need to carry luggage through bus and rail stations.

There are several Manchester Airport Parking options available to passengers with a range of prices depending on personal preference.

On Airport

Most passengers just turn up at the airport and park their car and take a transfer to one of the three terminals. This is sometimes referred to as the gate price and a cheaper way to park is to pre-book your on airport parking. At each terminal there are multi story car parks that due to the cost should only be used for short stays of less than a day.

Off airport

Off airport car parks offer the cheapest parking at Manchester airport and as a consequence these car parks are nearly always full with demand especially in high season always surpassing capacity.

Meet and Greet

Most expensive form of parking used by businessmen in particular and useful where you have a lot of luggage. Your car is picked up outside the terminal and taken to a secure car park.

Manchester airport and parking

This is becoming increasingly popular whereby a parking and hotel stay are combined. A Manchester airport hotel parking booked as package is cheaper than booking them separately.

In all cases, passengers should only look to use car parks approved by the Safer Park Mark Scheme operated by the police force to improve and ensure high standards of security and health and safety are in place.
